What's Your Attachment Style in Love?
A free, 12-question quiz for women dating again after 40. Answer for how you usually feel in romantic relationships, not how you think you should feel.
Adult attachment is usually measured on two dimensions: anxiety (how much you worry about rejection or being left) and avoidance (how uneasy you feel with closeness and depending on someone). Your answers place you near one of four patterns: secure, anxious, avoidant, or fearful-avoidant. The questions are our own, written for this quiz and inspired by the research behind the ECR-R questionnaire (Fraley, Waller & Brennan, 2000).

Please read: this quiz is for education and self-reflection only. It is not a psychological test, a diagnosis, or therapy, and a short quiz can't capture the whole of who you are. Attachment patterns can shift over time and with different partners. If relationships are causing you real distress, a licensed therapist can help.
About this quiz
Is this quiz the same as the ECR-R?
No. The ECR-R is a 36-item research questionnaire. Our 12 questions are original wording built on the same two dimensions, anxiety and avoidance, so treat your result as a starting point for reflection, not a measurement.
Can your attachment style change after 40?
Yes. Research suggests attachment security can grow, especially through relationships and situations that build confidence and safe dependence. On average, attachment anxiety is also lower in middle and older adulthood than in young adulthood.
